Changing Number of Guests in Accor Reservation

I made a number of bookings with Accor both in Australia and around the world. At the time I made the booking I was a bachelor and so selected 1 adult as the number of guests. This is no longer the case. I'm wondering if it's possible to add another adult to an existing reservation or failing that if during check-in the hotel(s) would be cool with my partner joining me on a stay?

In Australia there shouldn't be any issue just rocking up at the hotel with a second guest, but hotels in some countries (particularly in Asia) have discounted rates for one person stays and they'll want to charge extra for a 2nd guest.

You could contact each hotel and ask them to amend the bookings. Another upside to amending is extra assurance that you will both get welcome drink vouchers and breakfast benefits.

Good to hear. That's what I thought too as in a few of my check-ins they confirmed that it's just one guest checking in.

Fortunately I've got just one hotel booked in Asia (Seoul). I also have some bookings in Europe which I know the answer will be a hell nein given the way Europeans price their hotels. However, I don't think they would be joining me on those trips.

Will keep that in mind. I've learned the hard way that mask or no mask, Accor hotels don't want you to doggy bag your breakfast to go. The nerve!

IIRC Some Hiltons used to have a different price for 1 or 2 people. 1 was a bit cheaper than 2

It pays (no pun intended) to check. Obviously a “breakfast included” rate could be more based on number of guests.

If they’re not prepaid/non-refundable, you can of course just rebook if the rate is the same. Again, it also pays to monitor rates as you approach a stay to see if there is a better/cheaper rate anyway.

If you’ve already paid, maybe to a dummy booking to check if the price is the same for 1 or 2 and if it is, then contact the hotel. If not, just pretend each night that you’ve met someone in a bar…

Just tried changing the number of guests online and by calling the hotel directly for an upcoming stay that I have booked at the Mercure Sydney at the end of this month (from 1 to 2 adult guests). Online no changes to number of guests was possible and calling the hotel, the agent wasn't able to make the change either since it was booked as a package apparently (rate was ACCOR PLUS FAMILY FUN OFFER, BED AND BREAKFAST) which worked out to $716 for 4 nights. The only option would be to cancel this refundable rate and rebook as a new booking for 2 adults which would now cost north of $1200. I said no thanks! Looks like I'll have to sneak my partner into the hotel room!

With the emphasis on FAMILY wouldn't that indicate the offer is for more than just one person ?

Secondly there is no need to sneak your partner in, no one is going to be standing there counting the amount of people coming and going from the reception area. I would just walk up, by myself while my partner waits patiently in the lobby area for you to finish at the desk

That was my thought exactly! Then again, I have heard of one person household families!

That makes perfect sense now. But when I was making the booking I was a bachelor and saw no point in booking for 2 adults since I don't have any friends/relatives here to share a room with anyway. That being said, now that things have changed, I think your advice is a good one!

If you know someone locally wherever you are staying, you can always invite them to breakfast as well
