Chasing SC's to reach WP

I am approx 350 SC's off WP and have till May 31st to achieve. Have a couple of domestic flights to do before end of May, but thinking It may be worth doing an OS run To get WP. Have registered for the HKG double SC promotion that expires on May 17, however even that may cut it fine unless I fly J class. Obviously if I need to make a special SC run would like to do as cost effective as possible. May be cutting it fine however would appreciate any thoughts from AFF's.

Not sure where you are based, but I recently got TSV-BNE-SYD-HBA return J for 90k points + $128 for 320sc

Recently used most of them for an OS holiday. Back to around 35K which doesn't allow much flexibility with points + pay option. With a couple more local flights will have SC's at around 240 to go to get WP.

Reading the JASA threads and just realised I have a flight to Melbourne return next week and have just noticed that if I use 15000 points to upgrade to business (return) I will get 8000 points as I am 75 SC's off my next loyalty bonus of 8000 FF points, + I will get just under 2000 points for J class + 120 status credits, which brings the SC chase down to 235 points. Anyone have any better options to get more SC's

Using points to upgrade a fare does not invoke extra earn, you need to book an anyseat award to get points to make points!

Are you saying it does not earn extra points? Does it earn the extra SC's? If I do a one way upgrade for 7500 points and get the SC's, in this case 90 SC's, would I get the loyalty bonus of 8000 points. SC's are the driver at the moment.

Upgrades using points don't earn any extra SCs or points, you get the points and status credits of the fare originally paid for.

Given an upgrade is around half a classic award in cost which a JASA can get down to, it might be worth booking a trip as a JASA and turning the original booking into a credit.
