Cheap J Class to/from AKL

I just booked a one way AKL-MEL J Class ticket with Qantas travelling next week for A$545. Cheapest I have seen for a while.

I just need to find my way from Mel to Akl on Sunday, preferably OW carrier as I am 220 SC off WP with 2 months to go, which is a challenge! Any suggestions welcome.

Grab a red e deal to Syd then a return LAN flight ex SYD using the LAN.com USA website for $700 or so, you can change the return to a later date.

If you can forgo the SC chase you could fly EK A380 AKL-SYD for $700NZD (~$540) and then get a cheapie ~$50 flight on JQi SYD-MEL which means you can then access SYD T1 QC or FLounge if you have a host.

EK A380 will also include a much nicer hard product, as well as complimentary one-way transfer.

Not, its still there and bookable for Sunday, you need to go to the US website, not Australia:

I just found something strange. If I book a return flight Mel-Akl-Mel in J, it will cost me A$2400. If I book Akl-Mel-Akl, it will cost me NZ$1473 or A$1,150.

Since I have bought the Akl-Mel and only need Mel-Akl and I need to catch the 18:05 to Akl on 18/4, I could buy a return Akl-Mel-Akl and not use the Akl-Mel leg or try to get a refund.

What do you guys think?

Depends on whether you can float the $$ over the time it will take to get the refund.
I suspect it's not immediate.

Thanks for the offer but I will be on the 18:05 QF flight as Mrs will kill me if I leave any earlier. Thinkg of booking Akl-Mel-Akl and only use the Mel-Akl leg and refund the other or keep it for future use.

Any idea if I can use the ticket out of sequence?

See the other thread about doing something similar in HKG, if you dont fly the first segment your whole ticket will be cancelled.

You can't just not travel on the first segment, the whole ticket will be canceled if you no show.
