I have been looking around the premium fare deals on FT and came across the MH fares that where already noted here. I also came across a nice little fare ex CMB to LAX/JFK. JFK is pricing at about $4,500 on QF (EK metal) and AA (BA metal) all in J (bar 2 segments in F, both on BA (777 and 747). F is about $4,300 to LAX again on EK and BA metal, but no code share for QF. less good for the $/SC.

Anyway, on to the point. With positioning flights these are looking to be in the region of $5k all up. Is there anything closer I asked myself.

TG CGK-BKK-ICN-LAX rtn pricing at $3,500 for Jflex saver on the thai website. It will also net just over 24,000 pts if credited to US airways.

Hope this is handly for someone,

Korean also have fares around the same price in J. Not sure what I would do with the Miles though.

A better deal is MH D class PNH-KUL-NRT-LAX return for almost exactly $2,000 AUD. A good sc earner if crediting to QF.

I know about that one as well, the positioning flight (from PER) will add about $1000.

You can also add on a CGK-KUL-PHN J rtn fare for about $1,600

On a full service airline, yes. Alternatively, about $600 on JQ. Going to LAX, MH ex PNH is still considerably cheaper than TG ex CGK, even taking into account positioning flights from PER. But I guess it depends if you want OneWorld or Star Alliance miles.

Don't suppose you've done the math for SC's and points?!

(Just being lazy)

PNH-KUL 642/60
KUL-NRT 3357/120
NRT-LAX 5451/140

9450 base miles/320 SC

320SC for $2000 = $6.25/SC

Wrong I'm afraid. Looking at status credits only:

PNH-KUL 642 miles / 60 sc
KUL-NRT 3357 miles / 100 sc (not 120 sc)
NRT-LAX 5451 miles / 140 sc

Total 300 sc each way. Just make sure to book KUL-NRT-LAX as two sectors rather than MH92 KUL-LAX (which stops at NRT, but you will only receive credit for KUL-LAX).

The fare is $2000 RETURN, so 600 sc = $3.33/sc

I have been able to find plenty of dates with this routing. I can't find any that show KUL-NRT-LAX as opposed to KUL-LAX (with NRT as a stop). Are there certain dates I should be looking at? Or is using the multi-city tool the go?

Yep, you have to use the multi-city option on the MH website.

I don't know what mistake you are making. I am able to price PNH-KUL-NRT-LAX-NRT-KUL-PNH for $2207 USD (about $2100 AUD) on the MH website. See screenshot attached. There are long connections in KUL and NRT, which could be a blessing or a curse depending on your needs. If you want the best connection, book MH92 direct from KUL to LAX (which makes a quick stop at NRT).
