If you are looking for cheap international flights.. if you are quick, a technical issue with V Australia over the past 36 hours means you can pick up some real bargains...

Their online booking site was down for about 24 hours... so their 'cheapest' tickets sat, unsold for all of that time.

As soon as the site came back up (late last night), where other carriers had already sold their cheaper tickets, V Australia still had theirs available.

As an example... last night, I finally managed to get on once the system came back up and purchase MEL-MCO return in Sept for around $350 less than was available elsewhere...

Hope this helps someone.

A pity I'm not off to the US in the near future :!:

Little Confused here?? I have been checking the prices every now and then, nothing has really got cheaper??

Is it only the connections that have got cheaper or something??

Sorry if I didn't explain it properly...

I'll give you my example...

Tried to purchase 2 Adult and 1 Child return flights MEL-MCO, via BNE and LAX on Friday - all airlines were showing fairs around $3750.

V Australia's website went down so the flights I wanted, I couldn't book.

Between then and now, whilst I mucked around trying to figure out why I couldn't get the V Australia flights, the cheaper fairs with other carriers were sold, and today the cost of flights with the other carriers is around $4100.

Once V Australia got back online today, because their cheaper flights had been 'off the market' so to speak for 24 hours, where all other carriers are offering $4100 flights, I have been able to purchase V Australia for $3750...

Does that clarify it at all? Flights haven't gone down in price.... but if you are quick there are still some unsold cheaper ones available...

Are there any Virgin staff around that can tell me how standby from BNE to LAX is going. ie are there seats available when they want to travel.
