Title says it all. Have played around with ITA matrix, kayak, Expedia etc my own research tells me it's best to purchase two tickets -

dep 24 August 2015 and return 18 September 2015

syd-hkg//sin-syd on Qantas $800 (have to come back via SIN as planning to visit relatives for a day or two)

hkg-auh-mun //ams-auh-sin $955

total $1755 (fares found in kayak)

i chose Amsterdam as my exit point from Europe as it seems the cheapest, but I am open to ideas.

is there any tips/tricks to drive the price down lower? Could I change the settings on kayak to select Hong Kong or Singapore as the sale city?

Also try searching for SYD-MUC-SIN and a separate ticket SIN-SYD. Should get it below $1500.

Even slightly cheaper if you can visit SIN at the start. SYD-SIN on Scoot then a separate ticket SIN-MUC-SYD.

Thanks mate. Didn't think of this.

My preference is to stop on the way back in Singapore.

Had a quick look, $1100 odd (SYD-MUC-SIN) for $1100 odd and then Qantas o/w SIN-SYD for $500. You saved me a few $$$. Thanks!

Try Etihad for SIN-MUC-SYD. Often around the $1000-1200 mark.

$1450 aud with air India. All 787 with a stop over in New Delhi. This thread really should be in the flights help thread.

Thanks Kade and Mattg. Not a big fan of Air India (bad past experience). Mattg. Tried your Etihad combo and its coming to almost the same price as the deal I found (SYD-MUC-SIN// SIN-SYF (QF)). But thanks to everyone for the tips. If you know of any more, keep them coming :)

Try SIN-CDG + DUB-SYD as a multi-city booking with Etihad. Dep. Singapore 26 August, returning from Dublin 18 September can be found for SGD870.
