Hi all looking to fly Singapore to Hong Kong one way on 23 November (early evening).

The usual suspects JQ. Asia X and Tiger dont fly mid-late evening (latest 4.30pm and I really need 6.30pm).

Very few other airlines fly direct except Singapore and Cathay and they are circa $600 for Y and $2000 for J

Anyone have other suggestions (yes have tried most of the travel websites).

I even tried a United Airlines SIN-HKG which connects to the US but oneway was $1500 versus $342 return ???? Go figure (and have heard of nasty stories of having to cough up difference if no show on second leg).

Thanks

If the return flights are that much cheaper, buy the return and throw away the last sector.

You would be unlucky having to cough up for the no show.

How's your QF points balance looking?

20k + $63.70SGD for Y
38k + above for J

Availability in both classes flying CX

I agree, I have thrown away quite a few return sectors purely because it was cheaper to buy a return than one way.

That said, if you are that concerned, go to a local travel agent and buy the ticket with cash. The airline can't debit anything from you as there are no credit card records etc from your end.

Thanks again, all booked on CX in J

Unfortunately no new J seats for me.....all the flights allowed on FF redemption were the older regional planes.

Other flights on CX website with newer configs did not show of QF redemption list :-(

Have you looked at Cebu Pacific.

Basic Y service from a LCC.

Costs under $200 SGD but goes via MNL
