Check baggage through 2 Separate Tickets with China Airlines

Hi All,
Have anyone tried to check baggage through for 2 separate tickets with China Airlines?
I have 2 single ticket first MEL>TPE, and TPE>KIX with 3hrs gap time. Both CI flight.
Is it possible to check through my luggage and get boarding pass for both flights at MEL counter?

I have a PNR (CR issued by QF) for two connecting CI flights from BNE-<TPE>-YVR with 17hr layover at TPE.

I then have separate PNR (issued by Fright Centre) for AM YVR-MEX after a 5 hr layover.

Q1 I am presuming CI will automatically through check luggage at least to YVR as both CI flights. Is this correct.

Q2. What are my chances CI will allow us to through check luggage all the way to MEX as both CI and AM are both Skyteam.

I am doing the reverse YVR-TPE-SYD next month. I also have roughly a 17 hour layover. I expect the checked bags to be checked through to Sydney, didn’t think otherwise.

I can now answer my own question.

BNE checked my luggage all the way through BNE-TPE-YVR-MEX

Unfortunately it was fruitless.

YVR airport operates similar to LAX, all luggage off arriving international flights regardless of destination are offloaded and put on the arrival carousel.

We were not allowed to go to transfers. We had to go through immigration, luggage collection, customs, exit the arrival hall, walk back around through to the departures hall, checkin again, drop luggage and go through immigration and security again.

A real PITA. They don't even have to luggage drop facility that LAX has.

You wouldn't want to have a tight connection in a busy period of the day. Took us at least an hour to get airside again

Just took the flight and can confirm that baggages can be checked though on separate ticket. I have called CI’s australia hotline and the staff was happy to add a note to the booking. Then check in staff helped to check-in both flight and gave me boarding passes for both flights.
