Hi,

I am so confused about the liquid and food restrictions for international traveling. I have a lot of food intolerances and wanted to take a few jars of rice syrup as well as a bunch of dried foods, such as oats and muesli in my suitcase for my 3 week stay. I am flying with Jetstar to Tokyo in November from Melbourne.
I called Jetstar customer service and the woman told me that the limit is 100ml for my checked-in suitcase, is this correct? I thought this was the carry-on restriction? She also said that there is no restriction on food, unless I want to take it as carry-on, in which case I need a medical certificate to eat it on the plane..?

Can anyone clarify?

Thanks

Thinking about it, I'd also need shampoo/conditioner, etc... So is there a limit on checked-in suitcase liquids at all?

There is no limit for checked in luggage. The only restrictions are for liquid aerosols and gels that you carry onto the aircraft. You need to check Japanese quarantine restrictions for importation of food.

Thankyou! That's a relief. Would you know where I can find the quarantine restriction info for Japan?

Google was bringing me more confusion, but those pages clear everything up for me, thanks so much!

Guess I should add that there is still the usual importation restrictions on grog, so my comment about no restriction on liquids in checked baggage does not include booze.

Ohok yeah thanks for the reminder. I probably wouldn't bring back much, if any booze anyway
