HI
WE are flying LAX to BNE in June. We need to book a ticket to fly PDX to LAX . I believe alaskan are an Air NZ partner, but will they check our bags all the way through to BNE if this journey is on a seperate ticket?

Our other option is to book Delta and take advantage of free hold bags (Hubby is VA platinum) but this means collecting bags at LAX and i'm not sure how early the Air NZ check in opens for our 22-30 flight....

Any advice very welcome..

Both Alaskan and Delta appear to have interline agreements with NZ, but I very much doubt this would extend to separate tickets.

I presume you would be able to through-check baggage if you flew into LAX on United (as UA and NZ are both Star Alliance) but from PDX you'd need to route via SFO.

Last time we landed in LAX from LGA Air NZ check in was already open at 5.00pm. Our bags had been sent direct to BNE from LGA by flying the domestic leg with United.
