Is there any way to check for U class availability on QF domestic before I book a supersaver ticket? I am hoping to upgrade PER-SYD.

I used to be able to do this with Expertflyer but it does not seem to work anymore.

Perhaps another site/program can do it?

thanks

Have you tried looking for Classic Business awards on the Qantas site for the flight you're interested in?

As far as I know, things havn't changed and if they are available then you can upgrade right away.

It's something that doesn't come up in Galileo anymore, so I assume it's been blocked, and the only way is on the QF site as suggested.

ExpertFlyer has had it blocked for some time as well. Not sure if any web based service has access to that bucket. Perhaps KVS Availability Tool ($) still has access, but havn't used that tool in quite a while.

If anyone wants to investigate:

No QF U viewing on Expert Flyer. As posted, Business award booking availability on the domestic flight you are interested is the easiest way to pre-check.

I have found checking seatcounter for D class availability just as reliable and easier as one does not have to log in to QFF..

I am open to correction though.

... I am open to correction though.
May I be so humble as to correct you then ...

D class is revenue and when E/F did show U class, one would generally alos see D class availability. Often there would be D class availablity where there was no U class.

Generally if there was U class available, there would be D class, but rarely (if ever) would you have U class available on a flight but no D class.

e.g. One might see J9 D4 U2; make a U or D class booking on the flight and it would change to J9 D3 U1 ...

Presumably it is not expert flyer doing the blocking but Qantas refusing to share this information with Expert Flyer

I believe so.

I have a feeling it had more to do with the Flight Alerts:

Specify up to 20 flight segments to monitor for new availability in the class you specify.

ExpertFlyer will periodically check for availability and notify you when availability is found.

Up to three email addresses may be specified. Supports email to cell phones, PDAs and other portable devices.
One enters Origin, Destination, date, Carrier, Flight number, class and required number of seats.

You receive an alert when all conditions are matched.

This enabled those with tools like E/F to get the jump on "your normal Punter".

E.g. One used to be able to enter, say, MEL to LAX, U class QF93 etc ...

Obviously, this function no longer works for Qantas in U class.

FWIW, AA have withdrawn X class from bing viewable until 24 hours before a flight for similar reasons. X class is the Elite "Free"/Sticker Upgrade class from Coach to First on 2 class domestic flights.

And this is exactly how I processed my PER-BNE-PER upgrade
