Checking in an extra bag on a Sydney layover?

I’m flying HTI-SYD-AKL later this week. I’m on an extended trip and stopped in Sydney before going to Hamilton Island for a couple of days for a wedding.
Does anyone know if I can put my suitcase in storage at Sydney airport and just take a carry on up to Hamilton Island. And then on the way back through Sydney on the 4 hour layover, go and get my suitcase from the Sydney airport storage and check it through for my Sydney to Auckland flight?

I did ring QF but I think the operator in the Phillipines didn’t know what I was asking. MY HTI-SYD-AKL flight is all on one booking.

If you used this, could you still use QF transfer bus from domestic to international?

So leaving for HTI from SYD T3
Could put into storage at T1. Then check-in at QF T1 and QF bus to international to domestic for the HTI flight.
Coming back from HTI QF bus T3 gate 15 to international. Recover bag and (try to ) check in- add bag SYD-AKL. Would need a good amount of extra time to get QF to add to the boarding pass (if even possible)
Bag storage at T3 would need more time and would not be able to use T3 Gate 15 QF bus (unless the bag is very small)
All have risks: to *more* time needed.
