NoHi Braintrust,
I am flying Qantas domestically to Melbourne for connection to an international leg. One PNR. Do i have to retrieve the luggage and check in again at Melbourne airport? I only have 90 transiting time.
thanks in advance
Sweet! Thank!
Is the international flight to the US?I am flying Qantas domestically to Melbourne for connection to an international leg.
it is MEL to HKG. I hope there is no complication. Is the international flight to the US?
Nope, only reason I asked is that flights to the US have an extra security check. Once getting off the domestic flight just follow the signs for international transfer and go through security/immigration.it is MEL to HKG. I hope there is no complication.

I will be doing this soon, that is domestic to US transfer in Sydney on one PNR. Does that mean I would have to collect my bags?Nope, only reason I asked is that flights to the US have an extra security check. There was an inference that this was different due to an extra security check. Post#4Refer post #7

Perfect, thank you, just curious as it's my first time to the US. All my travel is in Asia and Europe. It’s not really an extra step. At some point someone will check your passport and ask why you’re going to the US. It’s normally done at check in, or at the international transfer gate (for SYD). But if you slip through it will be done on boarding for the international flight. It’s nothing you have to even think about.

No, you'll be checked through to the US arrival port (or onward if a following US domestic flight).I will be doing this soon, that is domestic to US transfer in Sydney on one PNR. Does that mean I would have to collect my bags?
