Howdy All,

Im looking at flying MU with Minnie from BKK-KIX and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this airline in J? From lounge access to overall satisfaction, any advice would be greatly appreciated :o)

Have taken China Eastern a few times and here are my general thoughts. :)

Looks like both of the legs will be in one of their narrowbodies, so the seat will be a recliner type; but still relatively comfortable for a day flight. Service-wise, they're not up to par with the better Asian carriers (CX/SQ etc.), but are definitely not terrible. Food is hit or miss sometimes but their Japan routes are usually quite good with the food service. (Especially for a 2 hour flight) One thing to keep in mind is that there might not be AVOD if you're looking for entertainment you'll need to bring your own. (Not sure for the BKK-PVG route)

Can't speak about lounges in BKK, but the lounges in PVG are underwhelming to say the least. They're relatively small and usually have quite a bit of people in them. On the plus side, there are usually some hot food options and an acceptable variety of beverage (very poor alcohol selection though). Haven't any significant problems in terms of misconnects so I can't really comment on their ground services but PVG is an okay airport. If you're looking to do the 72 hour visa free transit, that part is very easy and you'll be able to visit Shanghai.

All in all, I wouldn't pick them as the first pick if there are other similarly priced options, but if the price is significantly cheaper I'd fly them. ;)

If the China Easter option is overnight then you might be better off with the non-stop JL flight. For me though, the ANA/TG 11am departure is the pick.
