Am currently stumped up in my room in Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel with coupla hours to kill til I need to check out and head to PEK and suffer that arduous F experience on SQ PEK-SIN-MEL. No suites but I will try to tolerate it to the best of my ability.

Fabulous staff here at RBCH - it has been my home base for last years or so in PEK and am now on first name basis with most senior staff. The try to give me my favourite room each visit:

Room 1234 Club Level Studio - normally RMB1800 + taxes 15% I get it for RMB1000 - taxes 15% - fabulous deal.

Keeping to theme of title - who says trains can't have flat tyres? This one did:

And none of the first world concept of call out a maintenence detail from the depot to change - here it is very much get your cough outta that seat train driver dude and change this focker.

Actually landed in PVG on May 5 - 3 nts at Le Meridien which is right on Nanjing Lu and a stones throw from subway making access to Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre in Pudong so easy - I refuse to stay on Pudong side of river - Puxi side is where the heart of Shanghai beats.

After PVG off to Nanjing to visit one of our manufactuers - amazing what you see when you least expect it.

Any O H & S peeps on the AFF - see this is how a developing free market economy works - still think you guys here in OZ are way over the top with restrictions - how could a coupla enterprising up and comers like these guys get ahead in Australia:

It's pretty obvious what the problem is. They're not wearing hi-vis gear whatsoever. Unacceptable.

After Nanjing CRH train to Beijing - sometimes I fly - 2 hr flt - but delays on PEK-NKG toute both ways now intolerable - so 3hr 50min fast train is now preferred option.

3 Classes of travel on CRH - cattle - First - and then the top tier - Business - no I am not posting drunk - the Business Class is the top tier. This trip cost me RMB1,406 Nanjing-Beijing - up about RMB60 in 2 months. I took some pics but hard to take pics when so many pax on board.

No idea what any of it was except a packet of little bikies - ate them with a coffee - discarded balance.

And watching Australian Rules live - shame the Cats downed the Bombers though - in total 7 Ausralian guys sitting their watching the gane - all arrived alone just to watch the game - no metter where you are in the world in this fabulous era you are never far from home:

Intellectual property laws in China necer cease to amaze. Not sure how aare you guys are but the Laws relating to Intellectual Property are basically on a "first to file basis". No pre-existing righta at all - if you miss the bus - you miss the bus.

Anyway most Chinese companies just figure easier to just change a letter or 2 and that will be close enough - forget IP laws.

Now this building on the 3rd Ring Rd in Chaoyang just makes me giggle every time I see it - clearly designed by a group of architects after a coupla long lunches:

Interesting thread Cruiser, was line of work are you in?

I'm in CAN ( a world away from you) on Wedneday visiting a couple of factories so will see if I can give a little input into this thread.

Last time I was there I was in a car heading down the freeway when the door of a 40ft container swung open and nearly put the lil old bloke on the scooter next to into a far away galaxy!

Having seen this and done this, this is actually quite dangerous. They are better off with a metal caged pellet. But hey there is over a billion Chinese, so who cares.
