In New Zealand, most new credit card offers are for new customers but recently the terms and conditions have been updated to say you can't have held a similar card from the same company for the last 12 months.

Looks like an attempt to prevent churning.

Is this the same in Australia and do the banks enforce it?

There are some cards with a 12 month exclusion period. But most don't have this. Of those that have the exclusion period some enforce it and some don't.

Hi Dr, to save me trawling through T&C's.. Which cards enforce the 12 month exclusion period? I know of all AMEX brand cards, Virgin money cards, ANZ QFF card, ANZ rewards card, NAB cards, Westpac cards. That doesn't leave many more...
