Just wondering if anyone has done a comparison on exchange rate and other costs while using these cards in HK? Would need to factor in the 4 points per dollar v the 1.5 on Amex?
Just about to board SQ218

Amex has poor acceptance in HK. I would go with the Citibank Visa.

Unless you plan on having many meals at local chinese restaurant chain Tai Hing - they only take Amex!!

Just make sure they charge the Visa on HKD, and not whatever dodgy rip off AUD rate you get. Some machines are hardwired to charge in the card's local currency. With Amex, there's no such problem.

Thanks AA. Just a fraction too late. Got done last night after a few reds. Didn't check the visa slip.
The slip, when I read it this morning has a tick box to choose which currency. I wasn't offered it by staff and didn't see it so expect will get the dodgy rate!! Will be more wary.
