Recently applied for a Citibank Business Gold Visa card and got a message on my mobile to give them a call. When I returned their call, they tell me that the reason for the call was to inform me that I'll be getting a letter in the mail soon :confused:. I kid you not.

I'm getting nervous... haven't banked with Citibank before now. I read here on AFF about the quality (or lack of) Citibank's call centre. It's not that bad is it?

But a little better than Citi owned Diners Club.

Youre right. There is a way around it though. Have a look at the bottom of the letter and see who signed it (it used to be Roy Gory). If you ever have problems, call the switch board and ask for the person who signed it. You will always end up going through to their PA who will make it their business to get your issue resolved and you will always end up dealing with a local. It worked for me on the odd occasion I had issues with them. Problems were always resolved same-day.

Citi aren't great, but they aren't at the bottom of the call centre pile either.

Youre right - most enquiries are fairly simple and they handle things pretty well. Its not as good as my Aussie banks call centre but I dont call them very often either.
