Going through my citibank statements this year and the spend far exceeds the 120k point cap.

What's interesting is the points in my QF account from citibank also far exceed 120k over the past 12 month membership year with citibank.

Last year I did hit the points cap and was notified when I was at about 115K that I'm approaching the limit - so this isn't an oversight by citi.

Digging a little deeper I discovered how this slipped through :)

Happy to share the secret with well anyone with a decent postcount, as we don't want this information being "public".

I earned close to 2 million points before I had my points capped with a Citibank Platinum card.

I think the main difference with Citibank is that it is a manual process whereas with most of the other banks it is an automatic process. With Citibank someone needs to actually notice and then place a restriction on your account.

My question to you now is: Do you have your points setup to automatically transfer to Qantas?

I stopped using this card for large amounts of purchasing before the mandatory Qantas sweep came in. I am guessing that now they would care much more about capping people who have their points being swept to Qantas as these points would cost them much more.

Since I have had my Citi plat card i have gone over the limit twice and wasn't capped.Probably will be my last year with this card so doesn't matter now.

I have exceeded the limit for the past 6 years and the cap was never applied.

I think the terms and conditions state that you 'may' be capped. Rather than you 'will' be capped. However PM sent as I have a citibusiness card and am interested :D

Can't remember which credit card it was, but when it first came out they didn't cap in until there was a CEO of a certain company who had it written into his employment contract that he be allowed to 'pay' the company's annual phone bill (in excess of one million dollars) on his credit card.

That would've have been a nice little earn while it lasted.

Hi Guys

I have a citibank platinum, and last year it seemed to be capped at $80k. Did it increase to $120k this year? Or is there different "levels" of platinum around?

For those of you with uncapped limits, would you mind sharing your purchasing habits so we can learn how the system works?

Thanks!

I would also like to be made aware of this.

I have a Plat M/C and Plat Visa (FFL). After a few uncapped years, my M/C was capped two years ago. Last year both cards where capped so I got a CBA M/C as back-up. With the recent changes to that card I will use the Krisflyer Visa for that role in future.

I have recently changed both Citibank cards to direct QFF as it's better value to me than the 0.66 earn on Velocity/Kris points.
