Citibank Select & Amex Platinum

Afternoon,

I am looking at getting 2 credit cards, currently I do not have any.

As I am looking for the most amount of points I am thinking of applying for the Citibank Select & Amex Platinum. This will give me 125'000 points.

What are your thoughts??

Hello Elroy do you plan to do a lot through these cards because I noticed you were starting from none? If it is just for sign on and churn after getting the starting points that may not be a great idea.

Well I do plan on putting everything through the cards from business stuff to groceries etc.

Out of curiosity, why would they not be good to sign on and churn and burn?

There are only about 10 suppliers who have merit with their card products so if you cancel out 2 of them you may be closing the door on 20% of your long term opportunities.
If you can get Citi Select first you may not need to go Amex unless you want 2 different points programs.
