Hi all
has a anyone used the above card at atm's in Canada? I am arriving there in a couple of days and noticed that there don't appear to be any Citibank atm's there. Correct me if I am wrong.
The back of the card only has eftpos and not cirrus or anything else so wondering where I will be able to use it.

Citibank sold their retail bank in Canada, but given the Citibank Plus card is a Visa card you should be able to withdraw at any ATM that accepts Visa cards. Whether the ATM will charge you a fee, or Citibank will reimburse it, maybe a moot point.
A Canada expert such as RooFlyer, should be able to offer on the ground advice.

You'll be fine. It's a normal card, I've never looked for a Citibank ATM anywhere in the world, and I'm not sure why one would bother.

The only exception is Thailand and similar countries where almost every ATM charges a fee by default.

Why, hi there :).

TD bank (green theme) are no fee, but with the Royal Bank of Canada (blue and yellow theme), you get charged a fee. Can't say on the others, sorry. I'll try some other brands tomorrow (I'm in Canada "ATM" ... )

I use the Citi debit for most everyday purchases in stores, and no fees that I've noticed.

The only reason to use the Citibank atm is that no fees are charged.

There are no fees on any ATM worldwide with the Citi debit, unless the ATM operator levies one. In this case the ATM will warn you.

Ok great - didn't know that. Thought I had to use a Citibank one to avoid fees.

Thanks everyone for your info.

That's not quite the whole story .:) A non bank ATM provider (as often found in hotel lobbies or supermarkets) will nearly always charge a fee, and advise up-front.

Some banks do charge a fee for Citi debit cards, and usually advise up-front but sometimes its apparent by the debited amount being a bit higher than the requested amount.

I've found regular bank ATMs which charge a fee for Citi bank use in Canada (see above), Romania, Chile and Russia.

This thread is where people have posted their experiences. And its just reminded me that I got charged a fee for using a Citibank branded ATM in Santiago ... see here.

That's almost exactly what I said, but wordier...

Operators including banks may levy fees on any cards they wish. I've never seen an example of an ATM not warning in some way, and it is extremely rare that one only shows the final withdrawal amount.

Oh, sorry, I thought you were talking about non bank ATMs. I can't be bothered going through that thread, but have definitely experienced the 'no specific advice of a fee' more than once.

If I remember correctly Scotia Bank, CIBC and BMO (bank of Montreal) all charged a $3 withdrawal fee, but worked fine.

Yep, just confirmed Scotia Bank's (attempt at a) "convenience fee" of $3. The advice came on the very last screen before you committed.
