Classic Rewards - APIS info before ticketing?

Hi,

I recently booked a CR flight LHR-NAS (BA) via QFF - received an email to enter APIS info before it could be ticketed. Entered the info immediately, but it still hasn't been ticketed - points haven't been deducted or $ taken from my CC yet. Called the call centre this morning and they said that BA is responsible for deducting the points instead of QFF before sending it to QF to ticket and to wait another 24h? I found that weird, so wanted to double check if others have experienced the same?

2 more questions:
  • Also, are there specific airlines / destinations that require the APIS info before ticketing flights? This is the first time I've encountered this and the delay in receiving the e-ticket. After some of the nightmares I've read. I'm a little worried
  • My passport expires the same month I'm flying next year - obviously don't have new passport details yet - if I enter my current passport info, with an expiry date close to the date of travel will there be any issues?
Thanks!

The call Centre is giving you incorrect information.
QF is responsible for deducting points and ticketing this flight.
Do not wait 24 hours.
Call again and insist that they take the details and ticket it.
Secure flight info is required before ticketing for all US flights. I assume NAS is the same.
It does not include the passport details.
  • Passenger full name exactly as it appears on the passenger's travel document
  • Date of birth
  • Gender
  • Redress Number^ (if available)

That call centre worker needs to be sacked. You are getting the seat via QF with QF payment in points. how someone even thought BA had to deduct the points is beyond belief.
I knew call centres often gave wrong answers but this mistake reveals a total lack of training by QF. How come they haven't noticed this by now?

Thanks @Princess Fiona! I've now received the standard email with the e-ticket itinerary, but in the PDF attachment there's still no ticket number where it usually is, though the status next to the flights section says it's Confirmed. Is it safe to assume everything's good or have they still missed something?

@drron - I know, I questioned them as well and they said they checked with the FF team as well. It's a nightmare dealing with them!

Open the booking on either Royal Jordanian rj.com or Qatar or Malaysian to see if there is a ticket number associated with the booking. If not, it might pay to call back and confirm it has been properly ticketed.

As an aside, I made a CR booking yesterday with a similar problem. At the payment page there was this weird error message about invalid FF details and it bombed out but the PNR had been created (that I could see online but not in App) so I called up to make the payment. The agent took about three goes before points and CC payment went through.

There was a JQ international sector on the booking and I could see on JQ website that the payment hadn’t been processed and it also wanted DOB (which I entered). Not long after the booking disappeared from QF MMB entirely! I called QF back immediately and the agent could see it and said “Jetstar cancelled the booking before ticketing” (but it had been less than 2 hrs from creation to cancellation!).

During the original booking process (I used multi-city), it didn’t ask for PAX DOB - that plus name is normally the minimum APIS require to ticket. I mentioned that to the agent and she said, no that’s not necessary. Anyway, she grabbed all the flights back and pushed it through. The booking was back online and now in the app. But this time QF was saying, we need DOB to ticket. So I did that immediately and the e-Ticket arrived shortly after.

Bottomline, if not asked for DOB at time of booking try and force it in.

Yes, there's a ticket number via RJ! Weird how it didn't show up in the itinerary! Assuming this means it's all good and I'm in the clear? 🤞🏼 Or should I be concerned that points were taken, but taxes weren't charged to my CC even though there's now a ticket number in RJ? I really wish they'd make the process simpler!

Glad you were able to get yours sorted!

Sounds like it’s ok then.

For another upcoming trip, I received a QF ”e-Ticket receipt” but no actual ticket number in the PDF. QF had to book a seperate LAX-SFO sector after they delayed the restart of SYD-LAX. Fortunately I can see the ticket number elsewhere….(or used to be able to in CMT…).

Amazing, thanks! Received the e-ticket overnight as well! Though strangely it says the taxes have been paid, but nothing's been taken out of my CC.

I would still recommend monitoring your credit card, if the taxes don't get paid in a week or so, some accounting department is likely to notice this and could cancel your ticket.
