Mrs EchoNBounce just made WP too.

Now denied the ability to lord it over, my thoughts have naturally turned to upgrade shenanigans.

On the basis that either of us are happy if the other gets an upgrade:

Is it better for us to travel on a single PNR and (de facto) both bid for a classic upgrade...

... Or do separate bookings with separate upgrade requests maximise the chance of at least one of us going pointy way up?

(Say on flex economy internationally)

If you have one PNR and request an upgrade the request applies to all passengers in the booking. You can however split a booking ( can be done on-line ) and request separate upgrades that way. If you split a booking you may however wish to link the passengers as travelling together ( call centre only ) just in case there are changes outside of your control. It is not guaranteed that you will still fly together if this happens but it will offer you more certainty compared to separate PNR's in the first place.
