Does anyone have any experience requesting / getting a classic upgrade after Qantas have rebooked flights as involuntary changes? I have an upcoming SYD to LHR flight that was rebooked by Qantas for 2 days later and I re-requested the upgrade online (W to J). Just wondering if anyone has had success with this before? Knowing Qantas IT and restrictive rules I wonder if it will actually be considered.

I don't see why you would get any kind of special consideration in this case because of the flight cancel and change (sorry). In fact I would think your chances would be much less (though being in W is a leg up) as J pax would have been moved also so the cabin would be that much more full with pax as is.

I am sure the upgrade will be considered as per the normal rules of course if it is showing as requested.

Thanks for the reply. I didn’t expect special treatment. Just have my doubts that upgrades work after rebooking like this (mostly because the fair class changed). The booking is correctly showing that an upgrade is requested though.

Fortunately the change wasn’t caused by the original flight being cancelled so the J cabin still has at least 8 seats showing on EF at 4 days out (actual availability not seat map). I will keep my fingers crossed.
