There has been plenty of discussion already around our new Coast to Coast service between Sydney and Perth.

Have those of you in Sydney or Perth seen our new TV commercial currently airing on television and promoting Coast To Coast?

The advert also features on our youtube channel - view it below

Also highlighting and reminding the AFF community around two promotions that end in a few weeks.

When the guy sits down at the front of the J cabin the seat actually looks small, couldn't you have used someone smaller? :p

Can the recently discovered, great value in redeeming points + pay flights, be used for this offer?

Heading to Perth on 13th and returning on 18th was seriously thinking about Business class after my upgrade a month or so back. Problem with the Limo service is that it finishes on the 15th, bugger.

This Gold promo may have been more attractive if it had been for one Coast-to-Coast service return flight before July 15 rather than two.

Two of them practically gets close enough you to Gold anyway that it doesn't really seem much of an incentive to undertake those trips in such a short period of time unless you were going to do so anyway (in which case, you'd either already be Velocity Gold, or again, close enough that it wouldn't be a deciding factor).

Any hint on when there will be a Melbourne offering?

You can reply with a no - just make sure it has the date coded somewhere in the response ;)

Flying to Perth at 5.30pm today from Sydney Interested to see the new product and aircraft.

At this stage, I'll have to say no.

Ok, so i've just counted the letters in that. There's 11 before the comma and 14 after the comma: 11/14

Which means the 14th of November!

Or were you just saying No without coding a date into the response? :)

777.

Only after you said it do I notice it. I am thinking they either hired a Giant or perhaps the Ad Set was not to scale! ;)

Anyone else think that the (main) guy in the ad looks like he could be related to JB?... or is that just me...

I looked at this thread a couple of times, while I haven't seen any discussion (but didn't go looking for it) let alone 'plenty', the first line is a nice lead into getting an ad itself into the forums.

Is this an advertorial?

Matt

Hey Matt,

A fair question on a forum that has rules about commercial posting - but there was indeed plenty of discussion around these topics, going back a couple of months even. I can't remember which threads all up, but if you want to clear your mind of doubts I would suggest you start with the Now You're Flying Virgin Australia and Introducing Virgin Australia's new A330s Service (no doubt other ones too) I won't post links as I can't be bothered - and if you want to find them you will :) I would start with that second thread if I were you.

Perhaps then you could come back to this thread and edit your post? ;)

Cheers,

Misha

Sure, plenty of discussion about the new beaut DJ offerings and perhaps some on the coast to coast service.

To me this thread just seems too much of an ad.

I think since this offer was tabled in April and it is not nearing it's end - this thread is justified - like a "don't miss out if you were into this" post. By all means though, if you feel it is in breach - speak with the original poster and/or some of the mods/Admin. They should be able to come to a decision quite easily.

One thing you can do on this site is state your opinion :)

Nice :)

Thank you to the wonderful staff at virgin Australia. Upgraded to business for my flight to Perth tonight. It is very much appreciated.

There is a very thin line between news and advertising. My opinion (FWIW) is that this steps over than line, at the very least to the extent that it actually posts an advertisement.

Anyone else think that the (main) guy in the ad looks like he could be related to JB?... or is that just me...
He could be JB's stunt double or maybe he is the new younger JB having been cloned in case something happens to the original.

I agree, also the way that it is written is very "spin". I would have posted something like:

As you may recall when we introduced the A330 and business class Sydney to Perth (Coast to Coast Service) there were a couple of promotions available which may be of interest to AFFers keen to try our new product - limo transfers and complimentary Gold Velocity Membership if you book 4 flights in full fare business. These promotions are ending on 15 July, so if you are interested you should book now. Full details here.

In my opinion something like that would have been much more tolerable, a reminder about an offer of interest to AFFer's is much better than a targeted advertorial with links, images and the like. If they really want to remind us, they could always include it in the Virgin Sale email that went out today which made no mention of these offers.

I think it's fine, albeit maybe not in it's own thread but as part of a pre existing thread on virgin j class.
