Hi VFF,

I flew PER-SYD in August on the A330 (in J - great flight), and was hoping to receive the advertised VA coat bag, as mentioned on your website:

Coat Check Service
We will help you arrive at your destination looking your best. Our coat check service stores your jacket, out of harm’s way, ready for whatever your day or night brings. Onboard our A330 aircraft, your jacket will be housed in a coat bag that is yours to keep.

This is what I'm referring to, as seen on AusBT:

Unfortunately, no coat bag was forthcoming on the flight, and when I asked the crew for one, I was given a PE drawstring amenity kit(?) instead of the coat bag.

I sent an email after the flight (in August), which gave compliment to specific members of the crew, and also asked if a VA coat bag could be mailed to me (or held in a VA lounge for collection when I next travel).

My email was responded to, advising that the team would have to look into the coat bag issue, and would get back to me within ~14 business days (does it really take nearly three calendar weeks to 'look into' a missing coat bag?). To date, they have not responded further, and having already emailed the team about the issue, I shouldn't need to send another email with the same request.

This being the case, could you please arrange to have said coat bag posted to me (happy to PM you my flight details, VFF number or postal address once you've had time to read this), or to have one sent to the BNE lounge for collection? Two months after departure is a long time to wait for something that the airline promises to deliver in-flight.

Also to follow up, I have asked a number of fellow travellers if they have been receiving the coat bag on VA PER flights as of late, and it seems that nobody has for at least a few months prior to my flight (which, based on today's date, would be May).

As such, please either stock up on coat bags, or if this is no longer part of your service offering, you really need to update your website.

Cheers,

-Chris

For what it's worth, in the two coast-to-coast flights I flew on the A330 J in August, I didn't get a coat bag on one of them.

I did for the other one. It actually had a large-ish tear hole in it, but nevertheless.

Looks flimsy (like it would tear easy as above), but if it's advertised as part of the fare, then you should pursue it.

You should have returned it....

They look pretty one-use to me, nothing fancier than a decent dry-cleaner would provide.

Keeping an eye on this. The 2 two times I flew J on Coast-to-Coast I didn't receive a coat bag even when I asked.

One time I had to actually hang my jacket myself!

Quite true in a way (especially when they have a hole in them!), but you're talking to a bunch of people here who notice everything down to the hot towel. ;)

I don't recall getting a hot towel...

In The last two weeks I've taken several coast to coast flight and not once has a bag been offered, not that it bothers me in the slightest as I always wear my jacket when leaving the plane.

In terms of hot towel, this has always been offered on takeoff and descent.

The strangest thing is that it seems J is getting busier these days. Which I must say is a good thing for VA and their passengers.

It's a shame really, they were my favourite collectable.
(I am over amenity packs, everyone has them, boring...even pyjamas have become commonplace... but the Virgin bags were quite unique, plus I am using them to store stuff & only have a few empty ones left now.)

Five empties left. :(

Their delivery had been hit and miss for quite a while, and I noticed the FAs trying to reuse them, perhaps they have now run out.
