So i am looking at Qantas for
SYD-AKL (J) QF metal stop
AKL - ZQN (Y) AirNZ codeshare - stop
ZQN-AKL - (Y) AirNZ codeshare -stop
AKL-SYD (J) QF metal

when i price them out separately on the Qantas and Air NZ websites they are QF metal $1659 and Air Nz codeshare $259 so $1918

but when i try to book it all as one on the QF website i am being priced at $2737

Is this normal?

Yes normal - codeshare will be booking into a higher fare class than you can get booking separately.

Without dates it's a little hard to recreate the itinerary. When I tried to book it the QF site only offered Jetstar flights AKL-ZQN. All on the one ticket the price SYD-AKL-ZQN and return with stops in AKL each way was $1565 for a June departure.

The Air New Zealand operated flights with a QF code share cannot be booked stand-alone, they can only be booked in conjunction with a trans-tasman QF flight. So the price difference covers things like Qantas points and status credits.

As you are stopping in AKL there is little concern about buying a separate ticket on Air NZ or Jetstar for the AKL-ZQN round-trip.

So a QF 081- ticket is $2737 and an AirNZ 086- ticket $1918?

That's another possibility... I thought the OP meant one ticket from the QF website for SYD-AKL and then a separate ticket on the NZ website for AKL-ZQN!

I ask 'cause it is posted in the AirNZ forum.
