Colombia has a 'CheckMIG' on-line form to fill out for intending arrivals and departures. It says its there to 'speed up' the process and needs to be filled out 72-1 hours before arrival. Sources like Sherpa say it needs to be filled out.
CheckMig allows travelers, nationals and foreigners who intend to enter or leave Colombia, to preload all the information related to their trip.
Benefits
It speeds up the immigration control process by making the interview faster.
Makes easier the interaction between the immigration officer and the passenger.
Reduces waiting time in the room.
So, I went to fill it out prior to my arrival on a vessel and was annoyed that it wouldn't allow entry by sea to be done - it wouldn't allow a tick in that box, although air worked.
Tried several browsers, cleared cache etc. So, assuming it was optional, I braced for a bit of a process when I got to immigration at the port.
Nothing. Immigration officer took my passport, scanned it, typed a lot in, stamped it and gave it back to me. No questions at all. Customs was a wave as I walked past.
So I conclude that the form isn't needed for arrival by sea which is why the form didn't work. Cruise Critic contributors say the same thing.
