Hi All,

So I think I'm in a position where I can re-start the blogs of monthly Lounge details. This time I want to try a new method of collecting data if others are interested. I've created a Google online form that can be populated with the minimum and additional data, which I can use to populate the monthly Blogs like I was running last year.

At this stage I want to just test it, but if anyone else is interested, they can enter real data and I'll publish based on that. Here is the Blog entry for it:

Complied Lounge Details - TEST - Blogs - The Australian Frequent Flyer Online Community

Or if you want to skip straight to the Data form:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1pQbuhxczSrVZDqLLbKFTEp9GC3b8YoHIlq1l3fSOCcw/viewform

Alternatively, if the data can be listed strictly as NAME,DATE,AIRPORT,TIME seperated by comma's that will make life easier (for me at least) easier.

Not an exciting start, and I would've had it much faster if someone hadn't come to speak to me (they expect me to work at work!??)

Does it not post automatically to the blog?

No, the form enters into a Google Spreadsheet, which I then push through an MS Access database to produce a "grouped" report, that groups on date and airport code to produce the list.

The reason I chose a Blog over a forum post is that a Blog can be editted at anytime, whereas forum posts can only be editted within 24hrs. Auto posting onto a blog would be sensational.

The big issue with this method, is that any changes to existing data can't be made by the users, I have to manually remove them. But i'm sure I'll figure something out in time. (I'm not in IT or a programmer of any sort, but my day job involves extensive use of spreadsheets/databases so I know a little thing or two)

Thanks - seems sensible.

Straitman does something similar for the Hilton meeting thread - without the bells and whistles...

If you ask a Moderator very nicely, it can be done - so long as it isn't materially affecting the information which is already part of the public record ;)

The Blog works well because It can be updated easily and frequently, and of course having a Blog post for each month means once the month has ended, the Blog just sits there quietly doing nothing. Plus I like not being an extra burden on the admin/mods :)
