Last year when Virgin ran a matching status for QFF members, we joined in as gold. We have not taken any flight with Virgin for various reasons. We have also taken up their complementary memberships to the Hilton and Intercontinental hotels and car rental companies. However, we have made use of any of these, except recently we travelled in the US and booked into 4 Hilton properties (3 budget and 1 luxury). We were very impressed how well Hilton treated us in terms of room upgrades - of course free internet and breakfasts (not at all hotels). This just got me thinking why does Qantas and other airlines not offer these complementary memberships to their ff members? We do not stay enough nights in hotels to get these levels of membership at hotels, but having the gold membership with Hilton was definitely much welcome. Is Virgin the only airline that offers these on an on-going basis?
