Hi Guys, sorry if this has been asked before. Am looking to use one of my complimentary upgrades as velocity platinum for my wife MEL-ADL next week, however I am no traveling. Is this possible?

In our experience trying to use Mrs D-H's upgrades for me when not travelling together was a big no go. She rang up the Plat line about 4 times to speak to different operators, and always got the same response.

Complimentary upgrades are only available for the account holder or someone travelling with the account holder as mentioned.

Shame as I would have liked to have used my upgrades for my parents to come visit me, but fortunately I managed to get partner platinum this year so Mum got that and they'll get a nice surprise when checking in :)

I managed to upgrade SWMBO last year without travelling with her. Guess it is luck sometimes.

Interestingly I called up the Gold Desk about 6 weeks ago and asked this question as I was planning to book my mum flexis and then use my upgrades (once I hit platinum).
The operator at the time checked and then came back and said yes, you can use it to upgrade others.

In the end we just booked savers because the $ difference was so big between the saver fare and the flexi.
