Just saw the above message in my QFF account, still trying to work out if I should be thankful that I'll get no more Loyalty bonuses this year?

Where for art thou unlimited 5000pt Loyalty Bonuses???!!! :D

Re: "Congratulations you have achieved the maximum amount of Loyalty bonuses" Umm, Th

QF enhancement. SC count also resets each year. :(
Medhead did a table in another thread. He can put it up when he comes back.

Re: "Congratulations you have achieved the maximum amount of Loyalty bonuses" Umm, Th

QF only values your loyalty up to 2000 SC worth of flying.

Re: "Congratulations you have achieved the maximum amount of Loyalty bonuses" Umm, Th

Yeah I know about the changes... just thought it was kinda ironic that QF congratulated me for now being able to get less bonus points than last year! I also lost 350 SC's last year when it reset....

Re: "Congratulations you have achieved the maximum amount of Loyalty bonuses" Umm, Th

Congratulations! Now go credit to some other FF program . . .

Re: "Congratulations you have achieved the maximum amount of Loyalty bonuses" Umm, Th

At 2000 SC's, QF obviously believes you are loyal enough to no longer need your loyalty to be bribed. I think AFF members could prove that theory incorrect. We can easily be bribed into modifying our behaviour - remove the bribes and the behaviour will be modified by some else dangling a carrot.

Re: "Congratulations you have achieved the maximum amount of Loyalty bonuses" Umm, Th

One of the more stupid recent QF enhancements. What's the marginal cost of granting another 8000 pts (and another, and another, and another..).

Don't expect a comment from Red Roo though :)

In the unlickely event I ever get over 2000SC a year I am easily bribed to credit another 400 to QF and grab the 50.000 miles but after that... Nothing

Re: "Congratulations you have achieved the maximum amount of Loyalty bonuses" Umm, Th

This one really galled me but I was shot down. At the time of the announcement I didn't expect to hit 2,400 SCs but now I might/should hit 3800 (incl. 2700 QF so P1 ;)) and for me although you get the 50K at 2400 that really is a choice between PG (that I used to get at 2100 and as a result for the one flight my wife has without me I have put her in J for lounge access) and 50K and then after that - nothing points wise...

I understand part of the logic that 8K to a P1 would generally be nothing - if you are doing 10 trips to the UK in J you are earning 500K a year unlike my travel which is a mix of DOM and int'l J (a lot of that this year has been on CX so doesn't earn as much) and I net maybe 200K/year - thing is that for me as an unlikely P1 esp. after LTG next year there is no incentive to credit flights to QF after WP...

It wouldn't be so bad if Platinum One actually offered something that (even vaguely) qualified as a "benefit".

Re: "Congratulations you have achieved the maximum amount of Loyalty bonuses" Umm, Th

At the Platinum One lunch we were told this was 'enhanced' because "QFF members did not understand where the magical 5,000 points came from/lack of understanding".

I think the real reason is average travellers who do 50SC/year were cashing in on the bonuses at some point and QFF deemed this a benefit which was not required to get spend from these customers. At the top end of the scale, a 2,000SC member is loyal enough and doesn't need to be woo'd. Problem is - the decision was CLEARLY made internally without any expert advice. I don't know ANY happy Platinum One customers (and I know a fair few). Would love to be proven wrong...

Precisely my thoughts. Have just ticked over LTG and other than requal WP each year I am looking for something else to chase, absolutely nothing else to keep my interest with QF, which sucks.

Any thoughts on say a 100/150K bonus for P1 on requal? That isnt that many points to throw around and would maybe be a 20% bonus to high value fliers...

Not gunna happen!

FWIW, I'm currently a little short of 2100 SC's for my year, which ends October; my next flight that could earn in oneworld is in November!

In the meantime, I have several DJ bookings to suit my needs.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

That's a great 'problem' to have and one I'm sure i will never have to worry about.

I've had some other ideas which would suit both the P1 needs and also QFFs business objectives while increasing revenues and making P1 more attractive. No reply from QF...

My gut feeling is that morale of staff is extremely low given the state of the overall business. That flows down the chain and anyone without skin in the game doesn't give a damn about their core objectives. Again - I could be totally wrong!

Re: "Congratulations you have achieved the maximum amount of Loyalty bonuses" Umm, Th

Under the old system:
at 2000 SCs = 4 x 5000 = 20,000 points

Under new system:
at 2000 SCs = 4 x 8000 = 32,000 points

You'd need ~2.5 more bonuses under the old system to match the new system (leaving aside the potential for 50K at 2400SCs). That would mean earning 2925 SCs in a year (on average - since the extra SCs can be carried over from year to year) to equal what you're getting at 2000 SCs per year under the new system.

I suppose there are swings and roundabouts - in some cases you'll lose out. But the biggest losers are the many millions who only fly very infrequently, and earn a bonus every few years. By moving to this system, QF removes the need to keep track of this, and accrue liabilities for all these members (which, since the SC tally never expired, would last in perpetuity).

Agreed! I'm not wanting to sound ungrateful for any bonus, and for those that travel just enough every year to get 80% towards a status bonus would really hate this system more! When the "enhancements" were announced I doubted P1 would ever be attainable (I'm still not sure why I would want it...), but double SC's and so much travel my wife wonders who I am, has changed this!

Also, like others once I'm LTG (maybe 2 years away), I'll be getting my 1200 SC's as quickly as possible and running for another alliance!

Don't remind me, I remember bringing this question up and discussing it with Simon at some length.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record here - the lack of understanding by customers of the loyalty bonus is a direct result of;

1) QF's failure to use the wide range of communications channels (print, email/eDM, SMS, etc) to communicate with customers when they reach such milestones, and
2) Burying information about it in their marketing materials.

Such a milestone is an important one, and I feel better communication of it would encourage the NB/PS end of the program to fly more. And let's be honest, 8k pts isn't an expensive amount to grant customers, and it'll buy you at most 1/2 of a PER-MEL/SYD/BNE classic award. However, this encourages loyalty through giving them a reason to continue flying/purchasing/spending - the modus operandi and raison d'être of a loyalty program.

1,000,000 members all acruing an 8K bonus = 8,000,000,000 points (once reached) = $59m in Myer Gift Cards. That's not a trivial liability to have on the books. And we know that QF has well over 1,000,000 active members. The new system (of wiping the SC balance each year) stops that acrual by infrequent flyers, and the corresponding on-going liability.
