If I read this correctly, Rex can through-check bags on to Virgin flights without the Rex flight and the VA flight being on the same PNR/booking. Is that correct?

It's supposed to be correct but i did quite a few trips to BWT and BJQ flying VA down from MCY and connecting to Rex.
From VA to Rex about 1 in 4 times it failed so I used to go to carousel in MEL or SYD to make sure my bag didn't come out.
Connecting from Rex to VA it invariably failed.Probably 1 in 8 times the interlining worked.
