While airline mergers have lost their luster, Continental Airlines recently shook up the travel world by resigning from SkyTeam to join the Star Alliance. On this largely (?) Oneworld forum.. this "Star Gold" guy says.. "Good One!".. :mrgreen:

Haven't actually looked at possibilities yet.. but then there isn't any point until CO is properly "in"....

Still looking at options on TK and MS.. (both of which currently have some excellent C deals going... wonder if THEY will survive long?)

As a result of Continental's move, US Airways has already begun talks with oneworld members American Airlines and British Airways and so the game of airline alliance musical chairs has begun.

Is this new? Or old news I've missed?

I actually thought that most/all US domestic carriers fitted your description.

It's true. Outside of the F and C cabins aboard the UA/AA 'premium' transcon services, there isn't much gilding left on domestic service in North America.

From what I've seen the airport bus is often more up market and comfortable than traveling in coach :!:

Well guys.. I did 8 flights on US in June (all domestic) 6 in F and 2 in Y... Two were "mid cons"? 4-5 hours anyway.....

And... It wasn't bad at all.... Both of the Coach flights and... <thinks>.. ALL of the flights in F were perfectly adequate.... meals on the long F flights were tasty enough and reasonably well presented... seat pitch in Y was fine... ALL aircraft had clearly had attention paid to cleaning.. shock.. several in fact looked positively "refurbished"...

Crews were both East and West based.....

One flight departed quite late (flow control at the other end) but we were kept informed (onboard delay) and "well hydrated"...... (If JD and Coke counts as hydration...:mrgreen

I may well have been lucky... but if US keeps operating I'll keep flying them.. until they give me reason not to....

If you haven't flown them at all.. or haven't flown them recently.. I'd be a little cautious in dissing them too much... Several seatmates I chatted to (Chairmans type status I think) were suggesting US had "got better"...and was "trying harder" FWIW...

At least with Connex, I get 3 or 4 'free' daily tickets per year due to poor OTP ...

Wish I could say the same thing about my ride earlier this year...:shock:
