I have quite a few Altitude points which I believe can't be used for Overseas travel. Is it feasible(and worthwhile) to convert these points to Qantas FF points with the view of using them to upgrade on a flight with Singapore Airlines from Singapore to Adelaide in July this year :?:

majortom110, welcome to AFF.

Quick answer is if you are interested in an upgrade on Singapore airlines, don't transfer them to Qantas FF. You need to open a Krisflyer account on Singapore airlines (via Singapore airlines website) to be able to use for an upgrade with them.

If you don't mind sharing (either publicly or via private message) the number of altitude points (including the number of "reserved" points) you have, I am sure I/others could advise what is and isn't possible.

You should be able to use the points for international travel - but you need to ring altitude travel, it can't be done online.

without status...upgrades may not be likely.

If you have enough points redeeming for Business (or First) direct may be a surer bet.

Hi Newbie here, pretty confused and starting to panic as the 31st rolls around. I fear another Ansett (Star Alliance) looming where like most of you did a bundle

I don't mind sharing my points. This time round I have 540K total with Altitude and of that 120K are before 9/3/2004.

I believe that the 120K will go over at 1:1 but the rest will be 1/2

We don't travel much but plan a Europe trip next year.

My guts are telling me to dump the lot into QFF and start a Westpac Gold Earth.

Any advice would be most helpful

Cheers

Stuart

stuartf, as you know you can convert your Altitude points to few other airlines through Altitude redemption. That is if you are member of their frequent flyer program.
I think if your going to Europe, Malaysia airlines might suite you.
In total you have 395k points which would be sufficient for two free business class redeemed tickets to Europe OR two free first class redeemed tickets but short of 5k points per ticket which can be purchased. The only money (depending which class you decide to fly) you might need to spend, is TAX. Unfortunately MH has some expensive taxes. That is one of the reasons people are reluctant to fly MH.
Their program is called Enrich.
I have flown both their first & business classes both on free redeemed tickets and I was quite happy with their service.

Do you know what airlines are on offer (Certainly not Qantas ;))

And what sort of burn rate is there for the points?
