Some time back I received some info from QFF regarding converting points to rewards like you can with credit card points. I can't find the info anywhere due to a move and I can't find it on the QFF website (maybe I'm thick or I imagined it). My better half has some points that are about to expire (end of July) and would rather use them for something other than flying.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks dajop. It's not exactly what I thought it was. I thought you could redeem QFF points for $100 Myer vouchers for example. This is only "points plus pay" as far as I can see and really it just seems like you pay more than you need to then get a discount using a small number of points to bring it back to the price you'd pay in a shop anyway. Not much of a deal is it?

No; it's a horrible deal. Any of those "points plus pay" purchases are things you ought to be able to get for the "pay" price or less just by shopping around a bit.

If you're really stuck, and it's a question of "using or losing", and you don't want to travel, you could think about using the points to book a night or two in a nice hotel - those awards have no "pay" component and range from 25K points to 45K points per night. The other alternative is a day's car rental from Hertz for 20K points, but it's only up to a Commodore class, so not very exciting. (They should let you cash in twice as many points and hire a roadster or something for a day!)

As far as I can work out those are the only non-flight awards without any extra payment required.

Why don't you get a family transfer done to your account?

Yep that's what I did! See the other thread about getting a PIN.
