Hi everyone,

A long time reader (sorry, I don't contribute much at all) that has been amazed by the knowledge of the community and enjoy the reading of articles.

Like many other Singapore Krisflyer members, I have points that will expire at the end (hope my research is correct) of January 2023.

I have many different reward programs, (Amex Rewards Platinum card/Velocity/Westpac Alltitude Black card/Flybuys) along with my Krisflyer account.

I'm aware that I can log into my various program partners and transfer/convert the points into Krisflyer miles.

I wish to give the points to my daughter (a redemption nominee).

I think, if I have calculated correctly, I will fall just short of points for a saver award seat in Business (hope I'm correct 291K return?) by apx 25,000 points (enough for Premium economy though) to North America (East Coast). Europe (Paris) is the back up destination. So, am I able to do the points/pay option or must it be solely points?

Is the Star Alliance Round Trip Awards an option? I ask only as I would not like to go via Singapore, then onto the USA.

Having never done something this big or complex (I have only redeemed Krisflyer miles in economy to Europe/UK a few times, some years ago), should I consider the award flight assist team and happily pay to save me the hassle of organising?

Just feeling a little overwhelmed due to lack of knowledge.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Availability across the Pacific Ocean is hard to find. I would recommend searching for availability on various partner airlines flights a year ahead. For example BNE->SFO does not have a single business class seat available all year.

This might rule out round-the-world and more direct routing.

Some ideas:

You can call up Singapore Airlines and top-up your balance if you have a specific itinerary in mind. It costs USD $0.04 per point, so $1000 USD for 25,000 points. It's not a cheap option but is an option.

Flights from Perth are less points (but then you have to find a way of getting to Perth).

Thanks for the information and I also felt that it might be difficult to secure a seat over the Pacific. I did consider the buying points option and may have to. the planned trip is definitely for November/December 2023, which may also make things tricky.
