Looking for accommodation there when we visit this northern summer. Hoping others will be able to share suggestions and experiences.

Stayed at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel back in 2011. Was not too bad, very well located for walking everywhere. Service was a bit hit and miss but they were run off their feet as there was a Denmark vs Norway football match in town that night and the place was chockers.

Places ives stayed and enjoyed

Stockholm - Miss Clara by Nobis
Copenhagen - Scandic Copenhagen

In Stockholm if your a first timer then Miss Clara is central to alot of great spots and either way a bike pass is cheap and great way to explore. I prefer the Sodermalm area but im in the younger age bracket.

Copenhagen, Scandic is again in a very central area but also close to some great places to eat and drink and if your are into beer- like Mikkeller. You can walk everywhere.

NB if you or anyone reading is on a budget Omena Hotels Stockholm is a cool, comfy, clean, decent size room, interesting business model - they SMS you room code and there is no staff (only cleaning staff). Like a capsual hotel just normal rooms. It was about $60 a night when i was there a couple of years ago. Slightly north/ west of centre but still in a cool area and easy to walk anywhere.

+1 on the Miss Clara in Stockholm. Great hotel. A bit away from the central area but plenty of public transport including a tunnelbana station close by. BTW don't miss visiting the Vasa Museum.

I also stayed at the Scandic in Copenhagen. Certainly very central to everything, but I was less than overwhelmed with the service and probably would not stay there again. That's a strictly personal view and I know others who have stayed there and were more than satisfied.

As a frequent billundite, the Propellen is the way to go. The path into town is a nice short walk.

The airport hotel is basic but clean, but it's out of the way.

The Hotel Svanen has the best restaurant in town, but it's a fair walk into town (if you call the town a town)

The LEGOland hotel is the pits, it hasn't been updated in decades, my stay last year was in a Paradisa themed room which LEGO stopped producing in 1997.

Billund airport also is the only place you can buy the LEGO Billund airport set anywhere in the world, so for novelty/rareness make sure you pick it up on your way through.

Was happy with my stay at the Hotel Propellen last year.

Ran around the outside of Legoland in the morning - that place is huge. Didn't get the opportunity to go inside though.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu Waterfront in Stockholm over New Years. Nice modern hotel, very well located right next to the main train station where the express train from the Airport arrives. We found it fairly easy to walk from there to the city and the old town.

Wasn't cheap, but it was New Year's eve so I don't think that is a good guide for your trip.

How many nights would you recommend in Billund?

Depends what you are going there for.

If just sightseeing;
1 day and you have seen the lot (that includes LEGOland and Lalandia.)

There are a few other odds and ends around town or not far from town, but you'll need a car if you go down that path.

Also time of year plays a part, the weather there for 9 months of the year is depressing.
