No need to be the guinea pig PLANT.
You go first and if it goes "pear shaped" let us all know.
Happy travels PLANT!
I am testing Virgin J this week and Mrscove would not come. I think she remembers her last flight so I am sensing some resistance.
If this flight works I can go multi points with Virgin and still hold on to my zero status.
It is all good out in frequent flyer land "living the dream".

Who knows where this concept will end up in the future but currently it still has severe physical limitations IMHO - simple google and a bit of reading should enlighten all.

ATM friendly?
Don't know and, for me, don't care. Almost never use ATM's and, even then, it's usually a large sum coming off a debit card to avoid needing to return for some time. I could live with having to keep a single debit card in my wallet for that occasion. Merging approx 10 cards into 1 is appealing.

I've pre-ordered mine just for a laugh. The only credit card I have that will actually work with this is the Westpac Altitude Black Amex, since everything else has a chip and will ask for the card to be inserted after being swiped, and the thing doesn't support EMV yet (no built-in reprogrammable chip - and I wonder how likely it is that they will be able to do so in future since there would be problems copying the data from a chip like they can with the magstripe).

However, I will also use it for Coles/Woolies/other gift cards, which is actually more valuable for me since I usually have a gaggle of them at any given point in time. At least in the supermarkets you can self serve it'll be OK. Could try Myer, but I think the sales assistant will cry "h4x" if I handed that over to pay with.

My biggest beef with it is that the built-in battery only lasts ~2 years, after which the card will need to be (presumably expensively) replaced. I count it as a $50 2-year experiment. Not sure if it would be viable to keep replacing cards in the long run.

ATM friendly?

According to the FAQ yes, it can be read by ATMs since it's exactly the same profile as a regular card and the magnetic stripe will work with the reader in the machines.

Cool idea but who's concerned about security until it's proven. I do have enough cards to make this very worthwhile but lose one card and you've lost them all, not so attractive.

Yawn at this technology. I've repeated my spiel in many forums... Too late, too expensive, no chance of becoming EMV compliant. The creators are living in a late 90s dream.

Ah the nineties .....I was much younger then......that was a time when you could use one card which was an ANZ Qantas Telstra Visa and pair it up with one American Express card which in my case was a Gold one. Then by being really forward you would get your partner a card off your account.
I remember thinking .....the first million points will be the hardest as I paid the telephone bills on one of those cards. Life was so simple then!

Ahh yes, the old 4 points per $ earn card (6 on QF) ... converted @4:1

... first (& last) time I was ever a points millionaire ... :p

Serfty and Cove I am in awe of your dexterity working the system. Respect. ;)

Well drron we were discussing this card just this morning. Mrscove needs a points earning Visa or MasterCard so I think she should be a guinea pig on this one.
The benefits are really pretty good. I think a 100,000 AA point deal is almost the equivalent of 175,000 Qantas points plus the other benefits.

Have to American address Cove?
Shipping address do or will it be business\bank account in America?

Plant we have gone through the pathway to qualify for a US credit card. I did a blog in AFF on that.
I have a Nordstrom account and an American Express Premier Rewards card that get paid on an automatic basis.
Yes we have a US address and a US Bank account and a Social Security card with "not valid for employment" printed on it.

Cheers Cove.....I'm sure the above post will help others as well.
