Hey all,

So Alaska Airlines F was a bust... i'm still arguing with Qantas on the plea of misinformation on their part, hopefully can get my SCs out of them.

That said... I need to rack up as many SCs as possible. I'm in YVR (Vancouver) right now. Can someone come up with the most creative/cheapest route to LAX on September 10th? I need to be there with enough time to catch QF16 to BNE. As it stands, I need to rack up 340 SCs -

The idea i have so far is: Americanairlines.com.au YVR-PDX-SFO-LAX in F (leaving 8am, arriving 1745pm) on Sept 10th. - Correct me please, but but will give 60+60+60=180 SC, as the tickets are booked in F despite the fact that no F cabin exists in 2/3 flights.

Then, on November 26th, I have BNE-SYD-LAX booked, and it is just a matter of doing the reverse (LAX-SFO-PDX-YVR) for an extra 180 - giving 360 in addition to the 360 I already have.

Someone please tell me if this works or if I am wrong.

Cheers
Mike

Routing via DFW often seems to give good SC earn for reasonable $$.

Firstly, I do not like your chances of getting SC's for AS flight numbers.

See my post here:
Secondly, SC earning for AA flight numbers depends upon each segment's booking class.

That, is, It all relates to the booked cabin for each segment.

A & P are first Class, D & I are business class, B H K & Y are economy class and G L M N S V are "Discount" economy class and earn differing SC's depending upon the distance of the segment.

See here for a little more:

All Three segments, if i look at "fare basis" have a code "FA2AA" on them. Which i assume means first. Is there an easier way to check fare class?

As noted it really depends on the segment. Economy only (1 class) flights generally only have economy fare buckets.

As to ascertain the booking fare bucket/code it's quite simple.

If on AA.com and using the "Price & Schedule" feature then to the left of each routing option there is a hot link:
" Flight Details"

Click this and the routing opens up and shows several things including the Fare Bucket for each segment letter across from "Booking Code:".

If it indicate "A" then it's "First Class","N" then discount economy or "Y" then "Economy".

Note that some fare buckets such as Q and O will not earn with QFF.
