Since my eldest turned 18 last year Qantas have been sending regular offers of credit cards with points to him.
As he wouldn't qualify on income grounds and would never spend enough to qualify for the points is there a way to get the card anyway? Would I have to go 'guarantor' for the card or something like that? Then he could use the card to buy enough to qualify. The spending wouldn't be his of course.
Or is all this just rorting?

If your son doesn't have the income to qualify for a credit card, the obvious thing to do would be to get the card in your name and add him as a supplementary cardholder. Or just bypass this step by signing up for the card yourself and transfer him the points when they arrive...

By the way, he may be interested in the Bankwest Qantas transaction account.

I think the OP was more hoping to mine sign-on bonus points as he states that his son's points from spending earn would be low.

Answer though is that there would be minimal such offers.

Yes I could just sign up myself but I didn't get the offer.

Perhaps an entry-level QF card for your son would be a good starting point so that his credit file starts gaining some history of consistent repayments etc. This would help long-term for higher level cards when he does have a solid income with the new Comprehensive Reporting Changes that came into effect 01/07/2018.
