Anyone with recent experience?

SQ KrisFlyer said:
Earn up to 500 KrisFlyer miles when you rent from a participating location on qualifying rates.
I am not sure how to interpret their definition of "qualifying rates". Should the Amex Platinum CDP be OK to use or do I have to use a KrisFlyer CDP?

I credit to Velocity on longer rentals
I credit to SQ for shorter rentals (up to about $400) as I value SQ points far higher than VA points

Well firstly you shouldn't be using that Amex CDP - As you don't have that Plat Charge card :) but that was discussed in another thread :)

As for your question: Corporate rates are generally excluded from earning FF points/miles so if you tick the boxes

Corporate/Government Rentals Only

Quote me the program my company has negotiated
OR
I am traveling on Official Company business

You generally will not earn any points for the rental

Using a general CDP is fine though for an easy 500 points

There you go again deciding what CDP I should use.

Hertz has no problem with me using that CDP. In fact they regularly give me upgrades thanks to me using my Amex Platinum card. By the way the description does not mention 'Amex Platinum only for special people who have a charge card'. Does it? Read the CDP description again before you think who is entitled.

And I had no issues crediting to Flying Club using that CDP. Guaranteed 1,000 VS miles per rental. Even 1 day rentals. Shame VS does not fly to Australia anymore.

So you use that CDP when you credit to Velocity or KrisFlyer? Or do you pay extra for generic CDPs? The difference on this 2 day rental is ~$18 and 500 KrisFlyer miles are not worth that much. Not if I have to purchase them.

Perhaps I should credit to Flying Club and worry about what I do with the miles later.

Did Amex give you that CDP or did you find it on the net.... That aside:

There are not going to be issues when using ANY CDP unless something goes wrong and/or Hertz ask to see ID to match the CDP, but I doubt Hertz staff would know the difference between a credit and charge card.

I use Amex Plat CDP for all rentals and credit to Velocity or Krisflyer, there are no issues using that.

As I said the only time you will probably not get FF points for a rental is if you click the boxes next to

Corporate/Government Rentals Only

So as long as you don't click those boxes you should/will get points for any airline partner

Thank you very much. That is the answer I wanted.

I totally misunderstood your previous post on Corporate rentals. I don't know what I was thinking.
