Credit to Air France or China Airlines - and a few other Qs

Hey guys,

If I fly China Airlines using a mixture of cash and rewards (QFF) from Syd > TPE, with my partner and child - would you recommend to credit the status/points to: All 3 of us have the CI memberships.

1. China Airlines itself and use the points for redemption/potentially seek status later on for Skyteam - how would you also maximise the use of the points if using on CI?
2. Air France and use points for redemption only, as status would be out of reach due to requirements I believe?
3. Would you also consider (I haven't researched this enough) buying CI codeshare flights on Qantas website and credit to QFF instead.. I think the price was much higher on Qantas vs buying directly from China Airlines
4. Or.. don't bother with the China Airline/Skyteam program at all (I don't think there is any lounge access in Sydney or in Taiwan unless using either Priority Pass or buying Business ticket/business reward)
5. If you were to book a rewards CI flight through QFF (non QF ticket), would you still be able to use international business lounge in any class of travel if you are a gold QFF member, or first lounge as a platinum QFF member? Or would only the cash fares be entitled to the lounge (QF codeshare flight/ticket) as per the pointshacks guide

Thanks everyone!
