Flying in value J (code W) from MNL to MAD rtn on Etihad
I saw someone say that they could credit their Etihad flight to Velocity -and they qualified for Velocity Gold after one flight
I have looked at Velocity website and sure enough, my calculations suggest 960 status credits after Mrs D credits her status to my account. 4 legs each at 120 per leg is 960. I have about 70 credits currently
That is instant Platinum!
Are my assumptions correct?
And can I use those Etihad legs as sector flights - I think not?

Yes, it’s enough for Platinum provided you have flown the 8 eligible sectors.
The Etihad flights won’t count as eligible sectors

So if we fly Etihad this month but it takes 6 months to fly all the eligible sectors does that mean Platinum for the remaining 6 months or for a full year?
I'm very new to all this status malarkey.

full year. once you reach the requirements.

So, we recently flew Etihad, Manila Madrid rtn in business.
Rang them and asked to change my points credit to Virgin PRIOR to travel as per above conversation. All good, as Velocity number showing on "manage booking " screen, the day before travel.
Arrive home. Points credited to Etihad!!
Furious....

At least a dozen emails to guest centre with no result.

Very disappointed.

Any suggestions how to escalate or resolve.

Thanks in advance

What it says on the boarding pass is key so I always double-check. I've not had (nor have heard stories of) success in moving points once credited. Etihad is not renowned for easy communication on the ground despite its generally good flight experience.

I'm kicking myself for not checking the boarding pass at check in. But why would I? I had called them up. Been told by operator that all was good. Number was correct on the website.

As always. Trust no-one; check everything. 😔

I recently flew MNL-GVA-MNL on a paid business class ticket. This involved 5 flights, 4 Etihad (EY) and 1 ITA (AZ).

Three of the EY flights have now credited to my VA account, but the 4th one is nowhere to be seen. I've filed a missing points claim, attaching a copy of the BP (which clearly shows my Velocity status) and a copy of the Etihad e-ticket receipt.

So far I've got nowhere with VA's customer service in the Philippines. There's been much back and forth on the phone (as well as emails) but they don't seem to be making any progress.

I'm not sure what else I can do, and I really need the status credits to make Platinum again next year.

I've emailed Etihad guest 7 times.
They just refuse to answer the questions I put to them and say my points can't be refunded from Etihad and re-credited to VA.
Good luck.

Two of us recently flew SYD-ABU-BCN-ABU-MEL in Business Class. Velocity number flagged each time but no points to either Velocity or Guest. Three emails so far to Guest, just going around in circles where they ask for photo ID & a utlity bill, but no progress. Tried to claim via Velocity, but reply was 'ponts alreday credited to another program!!

Just to provide an update and conclusion. After quite a few more conversations with Velocity in the Philippines, I was finally notified recently that the points and status credits for the missing flight had been processed. It really shouldn't be this hard...

I’d like to add Velocity number to upcoming Etihad flights, but can’t see how to. Etihad app only offers ‘Etihad Guest’ as FF option in drop down menu. Am I missing something? Can it be done online?

Try the website - if that doesn't work then just ring their Sydney or Melbourne number - it will take you through to head office if unattended.
Give them your Velocity numbers. Done!

How;ever .....

Make sure your velocity number is on your boarding pass, each time you walk away from a check-in desk.
And, if you have been mug enough to EVER sign up for Etihad loyalty, then assume that they will put that number on your flight and you will never see the points or status.

Tried app and website, couldn’t see a way to add VFF, or anything except Etihad Guest number. May have been my own incompetence, had to go through chat to add in the end.

And yes, will definitely be scrutinising the boarding passes after reading above!

I've flown Etihad paid biz many times to Europe, most recently in June, and always was able to add Virgin number on Etihad website.
All credited fast and smoothly.

Booked on Etihad website as Virgin offer nothing except SQ and Qatar generally.

I'm amazed the Etihad partnership still works, given Qatar appears to be buying 20%.

I agree, no problems with adding Velocity number when making booking on EY website.

I'm flying EY biz to Europe again next week, so I do hope all flghts will credit automatically to VA, as I don't want to go through all that hassle again.

I expect that this will be my last trip on EY crediting to VA.

I have never been able to add VA number to booking (maybe it's because I am an Etihad Guest also), so I have always asked them to do it in the website support chat, which has always worked.

Good to know, thanks. Thought I was missing something really obvious. I’m EG also, but even if I log-out, still don’t see option to add VFF.

Remotely tempted to buy from Etihad biz tickets to Europe for early 2025 but of course am concerned that Qatar's current moves might see Etihad out the door re SC earns etc for Velocity members.

Any guesses on when they will finally pull the plug on that?

Hadn’t thought of that! But surely if you have booked tix and added FF number before potential plug pull, they would still have to honour? Or is that very naive?
