Hi,

I am planning on going to the US for a work-related trip in May. BNE-LAX-ATL-ORD-LAX-BNE, with time in ATL and ORD. With upcoming trips, and planning on doing Y+ for BNE-LAX-SYD-BNE, I will requal as WP. I therefore don't want to spend the money on YUPPs with AA fares.
For the QF legs, it will cost approx. $1500 less for the trans-pac flights than it would yesterday! :D
I added in the AA legs, and it will only increase the whole fare by about $400. :D

Question: Are these fares likely to at least attract discount Y status credits for the AA legs? I can't see the details on the QF site for the fare class they'll book into. I just want to make sure that they aren't likely to book into something non-SC earning.

Any ideas??

I think when we had Y+ tickets for BNE-LAX-DFW-SFO-LAX-BNE two years ago, the AA legs earned at disc Y rates? But they at least earned, if you know what I mean.

Thanks!

QF codeshares, with a note that these flights will be in economy (as is SYD-BNE as I want to return on a Weds when QF16 doesn't fly).

Looking at some other options when I click "View Alternatives" has some flights displaying AA nums, some QF codeshare.

Choose the QF codeshares - you get a higher minimum points guarantee and I believe true QF status bonus is higher (not sure on that last one).

Then you will be assured of earning.

Using my trusty greasemonkey script the AA fares seem to be booking into O and Q classes.

Certainly stick with QF flight numbers.

Flights are now booked, all QF codeshares for the internal AA flights. They have booked as B class. :)
Oddly, the ATL-ORD leg (AA flight, by American Eagle) is showing as eligible for points upgrade request to J. *shrug*

My Itin with AA segments LAX-SFO-LAX (booked as QF flight numbers) only lists "fully flex" economy but not the fare code.

Have managed to snag Exit row seats on AA's 738.....

Edit:
QF Domestic Segment Fare bucket B
AA segments Fare bucket B

QF International Segments Fare bucket T
