Tried to book First Class seat (using points of course!) on Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong to Sapporo, Japan and it says CX580/CX581 has no First Class Seats.

Aircraft type shown is 744, which on its own website, 744 aircraft has either 3 classes or 4 classes. So there has to be "other" 744s they are still using.

Are they still flying the vintage 747 with seats around 16 years old but avoid to say there are still in the fleet? Or is there something I am missing? :)

guessing they have first but are just not selling F tickets - if you have oneworld emerald and book into J you may be able to select F seats if the flight is full enough for them to open the F cabin

So what you mean is the aircraft actually has First Class cabin but they don't sell them until a later date?

Umm...... just tried dummy booking paid First Class same route CX580/581, same result (says it does not have First Class).

Really wonder why........

agree with yohy?!
They generally place J passengers into F seats with J service, helps to have status (e.g. OWE etc) and the lower cabins full.
Likely during peak ski season
Tried doing online seat selection few years ago unsuccessfully but given F seat at check in unprompted

Interesting. I have an F award seat booked in Jan, are they still selling F then or have QF/CX ripped me off.
