For Y seats, for the sake of my spine, I choose QF... take a look at the review of the CX Y seats... not good for over 3 hrs flight.
 
For day time CX flights, they are OK. Also their frequencies are much higher too!

For me it's the leg room, but the back is also a problem.

I resolved not to fly CX in Y any distance greater than HKG-SIN (~4hrs) unless the Y seats were changed. Their "shell" seating is terrible, as I found to my pain one overnight DXB-HKG flight. Ironically, the 777 regional seating (older style, with hard upper, soft lower) was far ore comfortable.
