Hi

I saw a SIN-HKG (F) and HKG-LAX (J) award availability in the middle of the night last night on the QF booking system.

This morning, those availability were gone, but ExpertFlyer seems to indicate they are still available.

Does anyone know if CX award availability on QF comes and goes depending on the time of the day or could it be that those flights have actually been booked and ExpertFlyer is not up to date?

I do know that if you have seen the seats as a partner airline award and have taken the process up to nearly the payment screen, the Qantas system might hold on to those seats for quite some time. Even a day.

When this has happened to me, I have called the Qantas call centre. They saw that the award seats were "on hold" (or words to that effect) and released them. I could then, immediately make the booking online!

I called QF and they just said it showed as no availability (didn't mention anything about it being on hold or otherwise). Anyway, the QF operator was extremely helpful with my plan B option (it really makes a difference when you get great customer service operators). Still keeping my fingers crossed for the CX situation to change though. I shudder to think how one could possibly ever get a RTW itinerary locked down given how quickly availability disappears.

I think too, just wait a day or two and check the availability again.

We know that call centre actions and advice can be different with each call... But it might also be the case that someone else actually nabbed those seats or that they were removed from the award inventory!
