Hi,

Have booked PER-HKG Feb '09 in J and on looking at seatmap (expertflyer) noticed that there was row 1 and 2. Further investigation has revealed that most days PER-HKG don't seem to be regional A330's, despite CX's website saying that perth is a regional route. In fact its 3 class A333 or A343 on most days.

Just wondering if anyone has flown this route recently and can confirm this? Looking forward to what should be a better seat (experience?) Is there any other benefits from being on 3-class A333?

And another question.... on the trip flights from HKG-LHR-HKG are 74A's, can anyone recommend good seats for a couple? have requested upstairs 86K and 87K....

Thanks,

Jakob

When the timetable to Perth changed with the addition of flights (and dropping of some North American flights), the aircraft schedule according to the timetable is often the aircraft called 'EQV'. So it can vary :)

CX is steadily upgrading its fleet with the new long-haul product. These upgrades and other scheduled maintenance means they often substitute aircraft configs. Don't be surprised if things change before departure, but for now it would appear they are planning to use a 3-class aircraft that day.

Obviously its great if you can score rows 1 or 2. But in my experience, this is not easily done, even for a OneWorld Emerald status member. I have been successful once and not successful on 2 other occasions. Other benefits include superior IFE AVOD system on the long-haul aircraft.

Its really hard to find good seats in CX new business class for a couple together. The dilemma is whether to sit across the aisle and be able to se each other's face, or sit in consecutive rows and be able to emulate meerkats popping up over the partition.

Thanks for replies,

Yes it does seem quite variable as to which aircraft are operating the route over the forseeable future, i'll just have to hope that it doesn't change back to regional when we fly.

Ideally would love to grab row 1 or 2, but i'm only OW Saphire so not very likely i guess.

As you've pointed out NM it does seem quite a difficult choice with the herringbone arrangement.... just have to see how it goes, currently i've chosen the 'meerkat' option:)
