Cathay flight attendants to work-to-rule over pay | South China Morning Post

The Cathay Pacific Flight Attendants Union said on Monday that it would to take industrial action over a pay dispute with the airline company’s management.
The union said after a general meeting that union members would begin a policy of work-to-rule at first, and would only go on strike as a last resort should the company refuse to listen to them.

CX is playing hardball to date and refusing to renegotiate the offered increases, strikes may be a distinct possibility at Xmas :(

Cathay Pacific is greatly disappointed by the Flight Attendants Union’s (FAU) recent remarks and decision today to take industrial action. Such action will have a negative impact on the general public and our colleagues.

Will they do a QF and Ground the airline one wonders?

Somehow I very much doubt that gievn that Asians tend to be less militant than those involved in the QF debarkle.

I will say now before I am criticised I am in no way being racist or negative to any Asian people or culture and have no intent to offend and trust that my comment does not offend.

Well I am totally gutted.
Whenever I have been flying CX I truly thought it was my sparkling personality that brought out the smiles of the crew. Now I find it is merely a company requirement.:oops::(:p

Good news - a deal has been signed and the action seems to have been averted :)

Cheers! Thanks for looking it up. In on my phone.

No worries - I've been sweating bullets all day, got a TPE turnaround on Sun connecting to my SYD flight in J. Could have been a world of pain with the close connections!

Have you ever dealt with Asian unions ?

Have you ever dealt with Asian unions ?

I think the difference between this union and the QF ones is they know exactly how to apply pressure and use the media successfully whilst also being understanding of the needs of passengers and of the need negotiate in good faith instead of just shouting demands.

They were also highly organised with their 20+ page work to rule hand book ready to go!

Well I knew it would be settled. In BKK last saturday a CX crew walked by whilst mrsdrron was collecting her VAT refund.I gave the crew a big smile and they all smiled back.my sense of self worth has been restored.:p;):lol:

Thanks for the update. Flying CX over Christmas; good to see a resolution so quickly :)
